Top 10 College Spring Break Destinations

Anyone else ready for winter to be over? Luckily spring break is right around the corner! Spring break is an exciting time of the year for college students, whether you’re wanting to explore a new city, party nonstop, break out the snowboard or skis, road trip or head out of the country.

Planning a fun, exciting, and stress free spring break trip can be a lot of work so you should start working on that now if you haven’t already. To make planning go a little easier, I have put together a list of all the top destinations for an incredible spring break!

South Padre Island, Texas

Padre Island has to be the top college spring break destination! There are tons of resorts looking out towards the ocean with nice sandy beaches. If you are going with friends I recommend carpooling to save some serious money instead of flying. Between the all day parties, cute beach bars and clubs, music festivals and the perfect weather, I’m sure you’ll have an unforgettable time.

Panama City Beach, Florida

If you’re wanting to see one of the prettiest beaches in the U.S., PCB is home to over 20 miles of gorgeous white, sandy beaches. On top of this, PCB prides themselves in having some of the best nightlife out of any spring break destination. During the day you have access to paddle boarding (my fave), parasailing, tanning, pool hopping, or taking a jet ski tour, just to name a few! The hotels are also affordable for everyone and its easy to find a place to stay that fits your budget.

Lake Havasu, Arizona

Wanting to head towards the West Coast for a spring break trip? Lake Havasu is the West’s big spring break destination that also has cheap hotel options. Since its on a lake, you can rent pontoons and have 15 people on it with a surround sound system, flat screen tv, ice chests, a barbecue and more! They also have jet skis, paddle boards and kayaks for all your water adventures. The nightlife ranges from bars to upscale night clubs and has different music genres for whatever you’re in the mood for!

Las Vegas, Nevada

Vegas is the ultimate party destination no matter what time of the year you go. Hotels are affordable and almost everything in the city is in walking distance. Flights to the city are almost always on sale so its a cheaper option than most destinations. Some of the top EDM dj’s are in Vegas at this time of the year so you have the chance to see top names like Tiesto or Calvin Harris at the best nightclubs in Vegas. If you are in the mood for gambling, finding the best food and drinks, amazing photo opportunities and more, Vegas is your best option for spring break!

Santa Monica, California

If you prefer the west coast, head to Santa Monica for an unforgettable spring break. At night you’ll have access to gorgeous city lights with great nightlife. During the day, you can head to the Pier and ride amusement park rides, dine at amazing restaurants, and take beautiful photos looking out into the ocean. Another option I recommend would be to rent a car and road trip the Pacific Crest Highway. Ever wanted to drive the coast of Cali? There you go!

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Grab your passport and head to beautiful Punta Cana for white sand beaches, tall palm trees, amazing weather and unforgettable experiences! There are many resorts for all inclusive stays right on the beach. During the day you can snorkel and see part of a 19 mile coral reef and then head to the best nightclubs like Imagine for the night. The island has casinos if you’re looking to get your poker game on, and make sure to sip on some locally brewed beer.

Nassau, Bahamas

The Bahamas are surrounded by crystal clear waters with white sandy beaches and you can snorkel with sting rays, swim with dolphins and even go swim with pigs (yes, PIGS). Whether you want to explore the town, take tons of photos with beautiful scenery, lay out on the beach under the sun, relax or party, there is something for everyone! The nightclubs will start getting busy at 11 so you can plan a full day of adventure. There are also all-inclusive resorts if thats what you’re looking for. If you head to the bar, make sure and try some of their rum punch! They have their own special recipes and you don’t want to miss out on that.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Mexico is home to many great spring break destinations but Cabo is a must if you haven’t been before! This is the ultimate destination for concerts, beautiful hotels that overlook the ocean, famous arches, sandy beaches and lots of other spring breakers. There are plenty of bars and tequila tastings everywhere you go and many clubs for great nightlife. If you’ve never been to Mexico before this is the best opportunity for you!

Winter Getaways

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole is one of my favorite towns in the USA and it sits right outside Grant Teton National Park! These are the most phenomenal mountains I’ve ever seen and it has an incredible ski resort for the adventurers. When you’re not shredding the mountain, you can visit the park and go on a wildlife tour, go shopping, walk around the town, and dine at local restaurants. Yellowstone is also nearby so if you’re looking for a road trip I’d definitely recommend this destination!

Breckenridge, Colorado

Do you prefer skiing/snowboarding on fresh powder surrounded my massive mountains? Breckenridge has a ski resort filled with hotels with great views and a picturesque town with shopping centers and restaurants galore! Not a skier? You can always do a walking history or gold mine tour, go to a wine tasting event, hit the breweries, ice skate, or go on a sleigh ride.

Other Important Tips

  • Make sure to book as early as you can!
  • Drink more water than you think you’ll need.
  • Almost every destination listed has packages you can purchase that include flights, hotel stays, all-inclusive options and more! Look into these if you want to book your trip cheaper.
  • Bring copies of your important documents if you travel outside of the country.
